NFU Cymru’s Sustainable Agriculture Award

NFU Cymru’s Sustainable Agriculture Award

The Sustainable Agriculture Award, which honours farmers that go above and above for the environment and their local community, is being sponsored by Wynnstay and NFU Cymru.

We are proudly sponsoring this award which recognises the exceptional contribution Welsh farming firms make to the country's economy, ecology, social life, and cultural heritage.

The farm or farmer who, in the round, can accomplish the following will receive the Sustainable Agriculture Award:

  • Demonstrate a dedication to producing high-quality food that meets the highest international standards;
  • Exhibit a beneficial impact on preserving, enhancing, and protecting the quality of the farming environment; and
  •  Show a commitment to the rural economy, rural community, and Welsh culture.

A commemorative award and £500 will be given to the award winner. The deadline for submissions is Monday, 5th of September, 2022.

The NFU Cymru / Wynnstay Group PLC Sustainable Agriculture Award, according to NFU Cymru President Aled Jones,

"Celebrates the crucial role Welsh farms play in protecting, maintaining, and enhancing the farmed environment, while also being key drivers of our rural economy and lynchpins at the very heart of our rural communities."

Anyone who is aware of a successful sustainable agricultural enterprise in Wales is encouraged to submit a nomination for this significant honour.

Farms and/or farmers from all over Wales are encouraged to submit nominations. Farmers are welcome to put themselves forward for nomination, as well as being nominated by friends, family, or organisations. Visit the NFU Cymru website to download a nomination form, alternatively, you can email nfu.cymru@nfu.org.uk or call the NFU Cymru office at 01982 554200.

The judging team will interview the shortlisted applicants at their farms in September and October, and the winner will be revealed at the NFU Cymru Conference in the fall.
