A particularly appetising variety with self blanching stems and vibrant green glossy leaves. High yielding with thick juicy stalks, it has good resistance to disease for better quality harvest. Prefers well drained soil.
Sow indoors in March to May
- In trays of seed compost
- Sow thinly, cover with 1.5cm of fine soil
- Firm gently and keep moist
- Cover tray with glass, polythene or propagator lid
- Keep at approx 15°C (60°F)
- Seedling appear at 14-21 days
- Remove cover when seedlings appear
- When large enough transplant singly into 7.5cm (3in) pots
- Stand outside for a few days May to June (avoid frost)
- Transplant to final position with 30cm (12in) between plants and rows
- Harvest in August to October
- there is no need to earth up this self blanching variety
