Champion has proven itself to be the world record breaking variety for yield, and certainly shows it in the field. The variety is vigorous, upright, with huge tillering capacity, and serious yield potential. To keep its straw under control, delay sowing to 5th October onwards and use a robust PGR programme. It is extremely versatile, growing well on light and heavy soil, and showing good results in the 2nd wheat slot too. A robust disease resistance package leads to a 93% untreated yield, allowing some flexibility on fungicide timings.
