Sow indoors in March to April, or all year round for indoor pots
- In pots of moist compost
- Sow thinly with a fine layer of compost
- Firm gently and keep moist
- Cover tray with glass, polythene or propagator lid
- Keep at approx. 15-20°C (60-68°F)
- Remove cover when seedlings appear
- Place in a light airy location
- Transplant 20cm (8in) apart in final position
- Pick the leaves as required all year round
- Pick a few leaves from several different plants each time
- They will then regrow more quickly

- In the growing position
- Sow thinly, cover lightly with fine soil
- Firm and gently and keep moist
- When large enough thin to 20cm (8in) apart
- Pick the leaves as required from June onwards
- Pick a few leaves from several different plants each time
- They will then regrow more quickly
