- In pots of moist compost
- Sow thinly with a fine layer of compost
- Firm gently and keep moist
- Cover tray with glass, polythene or propagator lid
- Keep at approx. 15-20°C (60-68°F)
- Seddlings appear 14-21 days
- Remove cover when seedlings appear
- Thin plants to further pots or trays if necessary
- Transplant 15cm (6in) apart in final position
- Pick the leaves as required all year round
- Shake out the dry seeds to store in an airtight container

- In the growing position
- Sow thinly, cover lightly with fine soil
- Firm and gently and keep moist
- When large enough thin to 20cm (8in) apart
- Pick the leaves as required from June onwards
- Shake out the dry seeds and store in an airtight container
