Sow outdoors in May to July
- In prepared seed bed
- Sow thinly in rows 45cm (18in) apart
- Cover with 1.5cm of fine soil
- Firm gently and keep moist
- Seedling appear 14-21 days
- For continuous crops sow every 2-3 weeks
- When large enough thin to 25cm (10in) apart
- Harvest in October to March
- Leave in ground until required, or lift and store in a cool, frost free place
- Cover with straw or dry sand
- Don not delay thinning otherwise the plants will suffer
