There are no new recommendations for breadmaking wheat this autumn. In Group 2s, we’ve got the UK’s most popular wheat in KWS Extase which makes an excellent choice for people looking to grow feed wheat or to try and obtain milling premiums. We’ve got two sister lines from Limagrain as perfect Group 3 biscuit options. LG Astronomer is perfectly suited to heavier soils more over the to the West and LG illuminate which suits lighter ground in the East. The most exciting new additions come in the feed wheat category RAGT again have two new soft wheat sister varieties called RGT Stokes and RGT Bairstow, RGT Stokes which boasts of a high western yield and great Septoria resistance and RGT Bairstow is the perfect all-rounder. In terms of hard feeds, we’ve got Champion the highest yielding wheat on the list, KWS Dawsum combining grain quality and yield, LG Typhoon an exciting potentially early driller with great yields and disease resistance.
