Food should be available first thing in the morning as this is when birds replace energy used overnight, particularly in cold weather. You should aim to have several feeding sites around the garden, to prevent over crowding; making sure that feeders are in open spaces, so predators can be seen easily. To attract a wide variety of birds, provide a range of feeders and feeds, as different birds prefer different feeds and have different feeding habits.
