As the first variety emerging from a new phase of Syngenta’s Hyvido hybrid barley breeding programme, SY Kestrel combines the high yield potential of traditional hybrid barleys with significant advancements in agronomic performance. It features strong straw, excellent disease resistance, and early maturity. Notably, SY Kestrel offers resistance to the MAV, PAV, and RPV strains of Barley Yellow Dwarf Virus (BYDV), along with tolerance to Wheat Dwarf Virus (WDV), making it a robust and resilient choice for modern barley growers.
