Wynnsan Iodine Concentrate

For years the Wynnsan 6:1 Iodine Concentrate Teat Dip has been a staple of the range.
Due to the new BPR regulations that came into effect during 2019 the formulation was updated to meet these new stringent tests. The result is that we now have a very versatile product that is EN tested against all the major mastitis causing bacteria from 4:1 concentration right down to 9:1. This flexibility in one product enables you to make the dilution to meet the need on farm with one product.
At the full 4:1 dilution it makes a 5000ppm Iodine when mixed so provides very high kill rates that suit periods of pressure.
When the cows are housed or out to grass, well managed and the pressure lowers the concentration can be lowered to suit. Our recommendation is to dilute at 7:1 which will produce a product that is still 2500ppm Iodine along with great skin conditioning properties. This makes the dilution simple as 1 x 25L of concentrate will make 200L RTU.
A lot of this new product has been used on farm over the last 6 months and been very well received.
Teat protection-
- Wynnsan Iodine Conc contains 25000ppm iodine and is enriched with softening, emollient and moisturising substances for great skin conditioning
Teat disinfection-
- Wynnsan Iodine Conc, diluted at 10% v/v and 20% v/v, is bactericidial in 1 minute, EN1656 on: Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus uberis
- Wynnsan Iodine Conc diluted at 10% v/v and 20% v/v, is yeasticidal in 1 minute, EN 1657 on: Candida albicans
- Wynnsan Iodine Conc, diluted at 20% v/v, is virucidal in 5 minutes, EN14675 on: ECBO, Orthopoxvirus
Benefits of the new formulation-
- Better visibility of the product on the teat and improved cleaning capability due to the use of non-ionic surfactants
- The complex iodine is manufactured with pH-, skin friendly ionic salts which are kinder to the teat
- An organic-based buffering system is used to maintain the pH to be skin friendly and also maximise the efficacy of the iodine making it more effective
