The Welsh Government opened another application window for farmers to apply for its Small Grants Efficiency scheme. The grant pays up to 40% towards the cost of a range of livestock related products. Eligible products for this grant are show in the category below, including farming equipment and technology to improve productivity.
What you need to know about the grant:
The grant application window runs from March 6th 2024 – April 16th 2024
The maximum grant award is £15,000 and the minimum is £1,000
The grant provides a maximum 40% contribution towards capital investments in equipment and machinery (excluding VAT)
The grant will be a maximum 40% contribution against actual invoiced costs
You must not use items purchased through the small grants efficiency scheme for agricultural contracting activities
Who is eligible to apply for a grant?
Applicants should be registered with the Welsh Government and hold a Customer reference number. They must also be a primary producer of agricultural products, have 3ha of eligible agricultural land registered with Rural Payments Wales (RPW), or be able to demonstrate over 550 standard labour hours.
The grant applies to the following farming sectors:
Arable
Beef
Dairy
Goats
Horticulture (including hydroponics and aquaponics)
Pigs
Poultry
Sheep
Apiculture
Equine or Forestry customers are not eligible for the grant and neither are groups of farmers (including Producer Organisations).
The grant is there to support farmers in their efforts to produce food sustainably and reward farmers for the work they do now to lower their carbon footprint. For full eligibility criteria and how to apply, visit here.
