A reliable, fast maturing, summer pointed cabbage with a small heart and few outer leaves. The compact heads have excellent flavour and can also be harvested early as 'greens'. Prefers well cultivated soil
Sow outdoors in
- In a prepared seed bed March to May
- Sow thinly in rows 25cm (10in) apart
- Cover lightly with 1.5cm of fine soil
- Firm gently and keep moist
- Seedlings appear 14-21 days
- When 5-6 leaves have formed transplant to final position with 45cm (18in) between plants and rows
- Firm plants in well
- Protect early sowings with clothes
- Harvest in June to September
- Avoid diseases such as club root by rotating brassica crops yearly
Sow indoors in March to May
- In trays of seed compost
- Sow thinly, cover with 1.5cm of firm soil
- Firm gently and keep at approx 13°C
- Remove cover when seedlings appear
- When large enonugh transplant 5cm (2in) apart in trays
- Stand outside for a few days May to June (avoid frost)
- Transplant to final position with 45cm (18in) between plants and rows
- Keep moist and weed free
- Harvest in June to September
- Avoid diseases such as club root by rotating brassica crops yearly
