Sow outdoors in February to June
- In prepared seed bed
- Sow thinly in rows 30cm (12in) apart for mature plants
- For baby leaves sow in rows 15cm (6in) apart
- Cover with 1.5cm of fine soil
- Firm gently and keep moist
- Seedling appear 7-14 days
- For continuous crops sow every 2-3 weeks
- When large enough thin to 7.5cm (3in) apart for baby leaves
- For mature plants thin to final position of 15cm (6in)
- Keep moist and weed free
- Harvest in April to August
- For individual baby leaves, pick as required, a few from each plant
- They will regrow for 3 to 4 cuts
- Harvest mature plants once they have developed
- Keep plants well watered, especially during hot, dry spells
