A provisional introduction to the group 1 sector, yielding 1% off the group 1 leader Zyatt, Cheer is running with the pack but its main advancement comes with its disease resistance, it has the best untreated yield of the group 1s at 84%. With a 7 for yellow rust it’s a significant improvement on the likes of Zyatt and Skyfall with similar yields. SY Cheer is an ideal 1st wheat across different soil types. UKFM will be re-testing this in September to see if it makes full recommendation as a group 1, so we advise you to speak to your trader before committing to this as a milling variety this autumn.Â
