This mixture produces huge yields, with low growing costs. Dieta white lupin is a tall and bulky plant (unlike most blue and yellow lupins which would not compete as well with the triticale). The Dieta is later to mature than other lupins. The crop should be harvested when the triticale grain is firm and the lupins seeds are well formed, to ensure a satisfactory DM is achieved. An alternative is available using yellow lupins which makes the mixture earlier but lower yielding.
