A delicious peppery flavour, add the leaves to salads and give a new dimension to the tastes and textures in the salad bowl. Use as 'cut and come again' baby leaves. Prefers rich soil and some shade.
Sow outdoors in april to August
- In prepared seed bed
- Sow thinly in rows 25cm (10in) apart
- Cover with 0.5cm of fine soil
- Firm gently and keep moist
- Seedling appear 7-14 days
- For continuous crops sow every 2-3 weeks
- There is no thinning required for baby leaves
- For mature plants, when large enough thin to 10cm (4in) apart
- Keep Moist and do not allow plants to dry out, this prevents them running to seed
- Pick individual leaves as required
- Harvest in May to October
- Take a few leaves from each plant
- They will regrow for up to 3 or 4 cuts
- Add to other salad leaves for a stronger flavoured salad
