LG Redwald is the highest yielding variety Recommended by AHDB in 2023. Its a strong, vigorous variety that has good consistency of yield potential over seasons and across regions. Performing exceptionally in the East and West Redwald is looking strong across the board in a number of different scenerios. It is high tillering, with plenty of biomass so three things to consider - sow mid-October onwards. For growers in the North, the drilling date can be pulled back to the beginning of October. Reduce the seed rate by 15-20% (trials show no detrimental effect on overall yield performance and ensured a better lodging resistance). Apply full PGR programme, and the inclusion of a late PGR (Cerone or Terpal) should be considered on a high biomass crop.
