Our pick of the hybrids for robustness and resilience in challenging conditions, particularly later August/early September sowing. Aviron has exceptional autumn vigour so the late drill or re-sowing is ideal. The early vigour allows the variety to grow away from early pest damage. In earlier sowing situations (31st July) the vigour will need monitoring, and Caryx treatment at 5-9 true leaves is advised for growth control. Light Leaf Spot is a disease that is increasingly harder to manage and Aviron has one of the best resistances to it (8).
