How TasteTite technology can help your calf systems

What is TasteTite?

Tastetite is a unique flavour protection and delivery technology that allows feed manufacturers to fundamentally change the way taste (flavour) is received by target animals.

How does it work?

The historic use of highly aromatic compounds only goes so far in improving feed acceptance; to change and improve feed palatability, we need to improve the taste of feeds and supplements. Tastetite is an innovative encapsulation technology that delivers taste to the mouth of the animal on consumption. Tastetite is highly stable, protecting the delicate nature of flavoured compounds through manufacturing and onto farm. Even under the most adverse conditions, our customers can be confident of long lasting flavour efficacy and prolonged feed shelf life

Our trusted Start'n'Wean formulation now includes a unique Apple Molplus flavour and aroma. Molplus is an appetite enhancer with a rich aroma and caramel taste. Based on the same sensory profile as molasses. Primarily, the way a feed smells and tastes is critical in determining feed palatability. Calves, like all animals, possess highly developed senses of smell and taste, which guide their feeding behaviour increasing overall feed intake.

Customer Testimonial

‘Here at Plumtree Farm, we run an all-in, all-out system with Wagyu x calves. Calves are fed via a computerised feeder for approximately six weeks and offered start n wean ad-lib. The calves take to the Start'n'Wean nut quickly as from day one. The nuts smell palatable to the human nose with the ‘essence of apple ingredient’. We previously used the start n wean without the additional flavouring and have seen a increase in overall starter feed. Our calves achieve daily liveweight gains between 0.79 and 0.82 from arrival to weaning.’

Midlands Trainee Calf and Youngstock Specialists

Hannah has been passionate about farming from young age, after watching her parents and grandparents run a dairy farm. Unfortunately, the farm lost their small herd of cows to TB but Hannah has not let that stop her from progressing in the agricultural industry.

Hannah studied Agriculture at Hartpury College in Gloucestershire, whilst relief milking on a dairy farm close to home in north Herefordshire, during college holidays and weekends.  She was then successfully awarded the Richard Wigram scholarship to work on a kiwi style, 400 cow spring block dairy farm in the North Island, near Hamilton. This is where she learned a substantial amount about grazing management, and the day to day running of the farm.

For 5 years, Hannah has been in charge of rearing youngstock on a farm in South Herefordshire, giving her firsthand knowledge of the problems that may arise within calf and youngstock management, and solutions that are associated with it.

Hannah will be covering the counties of Shropshire, Gloucestershire, and Worcestershire (South Midlands) and will be providing technical advice and promoting sales related to her clients.
