Meet the HGV Drivers of Wynnstay

Meet the HGV Drivers of Wynnstay

The Wynnstay distribution department has over 90 HGV vehicles on the road and over 122 employees. For over 100 years, Wynnstay has been delivering feed across the UK, in 2021 we covered more than 1 million miles.

Currently, 75% of the fleet is running on biofuel, we are currently working on higher grades of biofuel and are exploring alternatives such as electric, hydrogen and LPG powered vehicles. The 8 members of Wynnstay’s in-house workshop facility, based at Llansantffraid, work to ensure that our entire fleet is maintained to the highest professional standard.

“Wynnstay is committed to reaching carbon net-zero by 2040, if not sooner. Our diesel usage across the company makes up a sizable proportion of our total carbon footprint (12,466 tonnes of carbon dioxide emitted each year). For us to reach our net-zero target, we are exploring ways to improve the efficiency of our vehicles and we are also investing in alternative power sources, such as blended biofuels.” – Lewis Davies, Environmental and Sustainability Manager.

“I am incredibly proud of the Wynnstay distribution team. Within the last 5 years, they have exceeded distribution targets and have increased productivity within the department.

Innovations within vehicle technology and design have enabled us to reduce our annual road mileage, whilst increasing vehicle utilisation. Our fleet now moves more than ever before whilst we maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.

We have a large team, some of which have been here for over 20 years, as well as celebrating our long-serving members of the team, we are pleased to welcome new members to the team, helping us to grow our workforce. I would encourage anyone with a love of the road and teamwork to consider joining our team." – Ged Young, Distribution Manager
