YieldOn is an innovative new biostimulant from Valagro UK Ltd and has been developed using cutting edge genomics technology. The product works by helping enhance yield in a range of agricultural crops and is a blend of the following components:
- Three natural plant extracts
- Chelated Manganese
- Chelated Zinc
- Molybdenum
YieldOn works by stimulating growth in the developing grain sites. The main processes include:
- Helping increase cell numbers
- Helping increase cell size
- Helping to enhance the movement of sugars and nutrients to the developing grain sites
Three years of trials in the UK have shown some impressive yield responses from a single application of YieldOn at flag leaf in cereals and mid-flowering in oilseed rape. The company have also recently started trials with forage maize.
Trial Results
Initial field-scale observations were carried out by Wynnstay agronomists and these showed significant increases in cob weights between YieldOn treated and untreated areas of the crop.
Replicated trials with the MGA were subsequently carried out in 2021, comparing standard crop management, with and without YieldOn. These trials showed no significant increases in dry matter yields between YieldOn treated and untreated plots, but improvements in quality were seen and are summarised in the table below. Metabolisable energy and starch content were both increased, helping to improve the energy density of the forage. The benefits of this can be reflected in higher milk yields and better liveweight gains.
Further trials were run in 2022 and these also included investigations with reduced N applications with YieldOn.

Benefits of YieldOn
Maize trials elsewhere in Europe have shown yield responses linked to an increased number of grains per cob, grains per square metre and extra rows of grain per cob. An increased weight/size of cobs with more grains can help to improve dry matter yields and energy content of the crop at harvest. In France, average grain maize yields have been increased by 8% in YieldOn treated plots.
How to use YieldOn
YieldOn should be applied at 2.0 L/ha at tasselling. If application at this stage is not possible, earlier applications at 8-10 leaves can also give good results. YieldOn can be tank mixed with other nutrient and crop protection products
